Journal of chief trader Samuel Black of the Hudson's Bay Company of a voyage of discovery to the head waters of the Finlay Branch of the Peace River and northwestward thereof in the summer of 1824, 1924.

The account of an exploration of the Finlay River was long attributed to John Finlay. Also in the volume are explanatory notes by Charles N. Bell (2 leaves) and transcript of an article re Black from The Beaver, June 1928 (4 leaves). With this, in a separate folder: letter, Sept. 23, 1927, from J.B. Tyrrell to Charles N. Bell; and letter, Dec. 16, 1927, from J. N. Wallace to Charles N. Bell, identifying the writer of the journal as Samuel Black, not John Finlay.
